Richard has an MEng in Mechanical Engineering & Manufacturing Systems from the University of Bristol and was at Apax Partners for 7 years before joining Exponent.

Richard started his career at Rolls-Royce plc before moving to LEK Consulting to work as a strategy consultant. He joined Apax Partners in 1998 and focussed on large buyouts working in London and Milan. Richard was a director of Azimut spa, Senstronics Group and International Sportsworld Communicators. His broader portfolio of investments included Thomson Directories, Hansen Transmissions and Prodrive.

He works with Exponent's investments in V Group, Trainline, Radley and Dreams.
