Richard has an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Cambridge University, an MBA from Harvard Business School and was at Apax Partners for 6 years before joining Exponent.

Richard started his career as an engineer at Unilever before moving to The Boston Consulting Group to work as a strategy consultant. At Apax Richard focussed on media investments, was a Director of Yell Group, and was responsible for the sourcing of the HIT Entertainment transaction.  His broader portfolio included Regent Medical and Medlock Medical which were merged into the larger Molnlycke group, McLeod Directories and Bolero.net.

He works with Exponent's investment in Durrants.
