V.Ships
V. Group is a leading, global marine outsourcing business providing services to the shipping, leisure and offshore industries. Its activities comprise Ship Management, Manpower Services, Marine Services and financial and commercial services. V. Ships is the world’s largest ship management business, providing Technical Management and Crew Management to approximately 800 vessels. The Marine Services division provides a range of discrete services that complement the ship management business as well as serving the third party market.
Growth in world trade and in the global shipping fleet, combined with increasing regulatory burdens and a shortage of trained labour, drive V. Group’s growth. In more difficult market conditions the trend to outsource ship management should accelerate giving a degree of counter-cyclicality. The business is also ideally placed to consolidate a highly fragmented industry.
Exponent acquired V. Group, alongside management, in March 2007 and appointed David Hoare as Chairman and Clive Richardson as Chief Executive Officer to help focus and professionalise the business. Under our ownership the business made three acquisitions; RCC in Norway, ITM in Dubai and MUM in Singapore.
In September 2011 Exponent completed the sale of V.Group to OMERS Private Equity for $520m.
